To Do

  1. Primary Auxiliaries - 

a. To be - be, being, been, is, am, are, was, were
b. To have - have, has, had, having
c. To do - do, does, did

To Do 

do, does, did, done, doing

do/does --> Present Tense
does --- 3rd Person Singular Number ( He, She, It, etc.)
do --- I, We, You, They, etc.
did --- Past tense of "do" (used with all person & Number)


Do, Does, Did are used as Main Verbs well as helping Verb
Doing, Done ---> used as Main Verb


"To Do" as a Main Verb (do, does, did)

Examples:-
I do many work. 
He does many work.
We did many work.
I have done my work.
What are you doing now?

"To Do" as a Auxiliary Verb (do, does, did)

Examples:-

Use -1 
do, does, did are used to form Negative & Interrogative of Present Indefinite & Past Indefinite Tenses.

Present Indefinite Tense
 Examples:-
I like chocolate.
Negative:- I do not like chocolate (I don't like chocolate.)
Interrogative:- Do you like chocolate?

He plays cricket.
Negative:- He does not play cricket.
Interrogative:- Does he play cricket?

Past Indefinite Tenses
Examples:-
He went to school.
Negative:- He did not go to school.
Interrogative:- Did he go to school?

She played well today.
She did not play well today.
Did she play well today?

Note: - Verb "do" can be used as a helping verb and main verb together in a sentence.


Examples:-
I do this work.
do not do this work.
 (1st "do" used as helping verb to form negative sentences and 2nd "do" used as a main verb)

He does not do this work.
He did not do this work.
Do you do this work?
Does he do this work?
What do you do?
What does he do?
What did he do?

Use - 2 
do, does, did are used to emphasize the affirmative nature of a statement.
Examples:-
 I go there.
(Emphatic sentence)
I do go there.
He does go to school.
He did come yesterday.

Use - 3
do, does, did are used to form "Question Tag".

Contractions

do not - don't
does not - doesn't
did not - didn't

Examples:-

You take (drink) tea, don't you? (question tags)
You do not take tea, do you?
He knows you, doesn't he?
He went to school, didn't he?
He didn't go to school, did he?

Note - If the sentence is affirmative then it 's Question tag will be negative (don't, doesn't, didn't) and if the sentence is negative then it's Question Tag will be affirmative (positive).(do, does, did)
